I never thought I would say that!! After all the nerves and anxiety I put myself through, the are a breeze. I'm still shocked that when I go to give them, I don't mind at all. I actually enjoy every time I do it and it doesn't hurt. It's a weird sense of accomplishment.
I did have about 3 that left bruising, but out of the 15 I've done, I don't think that's so bad.
I do them in my thigh. Again, NEVER thought I would say that!! I find the thigh hurts less. Weird thing though, I have only bruised on the right side. I'm right handed, so I'm not sure if the angle is weird or I put too much pressure on that side, but reaching over the the left leg is no problem and painless.
I'm definitely not the pro, but if I can be of any assistance to anyone with questions, please let me know.
I start stimulating on Thursday. I think the Menepor (sp) burns, so not looking forward to that, but will keep posting.

I DID IT!
Well, I'm happy to report that I did stick myself tonight. I tried to do it this morning, but was unable to get over the pychological psych-out I was doing to myself. It was crazy, I was looking at it and thinking....just do it, just do it and it was like my hand was frozen and my brain could not make my hand respond. Weird! My husband had to do it for me, but he left today so it was me or no one! I put ice on the spot and pow, just popped it in. I think the cold actually hurt worse then the shot. I didn't feel a thing. The area smarts a little, but no big deal.
I'm also happy to report that thus far, no side effects. I was sort of dreading the possible headaches, but so far so good. So for the next 8-10 days, it's poke in the am and pm.
Hope all's well with all.

T-minus 48 hours.....
Okay, 48 hours to go until I start with the Lupron and I'm actually ready, willing and able! I did something sort of silly last night, but glad I did. So I had a couple glasses of wine and was a little bored, so decided to see just how bad the shot is going to hurt........SO, I decided to give it a go. Yep, that's right. I busted out one of the little needles and gave my belly AND leg a little poke. And guess what.....it didn't hurt. Not even a little. YEAH!!!
I have to say, I had more trepidation about the leg then the belly. But in the end, the leg hurt less then the belly. Don't get me wrong, the belly didn't hurt, per se, but afterward, I could "feel" the injection spot in the belly for a while after, but the leg, NOTHING. Now of course this was just a test run, and don't know how medication will change the dynamics, but I'm really glad I gave it a....shot. =)
Can't wait for the big day!!! Over and out......

All my meds
I just received the last of my medications AND I'm so happy to report that although my Dr. prescribed the 22-23 gauge needle, I sweet talked the pharmacist into sending me 25 gauge and let me tell you there is a HUGE difference. I really believe I will be able to give them to myself now. Can't tell you how over joyed I am!
When I discussed the needle size with the nurse, she stated that the 25 gauge needle is brittle and could break. I will say that the needle is pretty thin considering, but I promise to be extra careful! =) I took one out to practice pushing the oil through and while it was more difficult, it wasn't impossible. I used sunflower oil to practice. I ran it under hot water for a minute and even felt the temp of the oil and it was fine, so I think I'll be fine.
Does anyone have experience using the 25 gauge needle for oil? I've seen one video online about using the 25 gauge and I really think it will save me. So thanks!!
I also received my calendar yesterday and shots start on 3/22, so it's on until then. I'm going to try to enjoy as much wine and girl time as possible until then. I will enjoy every drop!!!
Would love to know if anyone else is getting ready for their first time soon. I would love to give and receive as much support as possible.
Cheers!!

Not so scary.....
Wellll, class complete and I must say, not bad, but I must say I've been trying really hard to keep myself objective about this whole process and I think I've done a very good job of it. So as much as I'm freaked out about the whole thing, I look at is as......."it is what it is"......type attitude, and it really helps. In addition, I received all most of my medications today, and while it's a ton, it's not as overwhelming as I thought. I guess because I have prepared myself for it.
What I can't see to get myself ready for is the PIO (or progesterone in ethyl oleate) shots. That needle is RIDICULOUS! I had to go back and forth with the nurse about how you CAN push that through a 25 gauge needle. She says that a needle that thin (that ain't thin folks!) will break. I find that very hard to believe. SO, I ordered the 25 gauge needle from the pharmacy and it arrives tomorrow. We'll see what I get. My biggest argument for the smaller needle is that I am going to have to inject that MYSELF!! Trust me, the smaller the better in my book.
So....I'm surveying my drugs over a bottle of wine with one of the many girlfriend's I've recruited just in case I'm not as tough as I think I am to do the dirty deed when PIO time comes along. Yikes!!!
...unitl then! =)

"Shot Class!"
I'm so frustrated with the selection of books available. Is it because the technology is changing so quickly? Is it because there really aren't that many women going through the IVF journey? Not sure, but it really made me feel like I was on an island yesterday. If anyone has a book recommendation, PLEASE let me know! I ordered one on Amazon with the latest edition being 2008. I'll give a review after I get it.
So tomorrow is the big Injection class!! It's 2+ hour class taking the deep dive into this whole IVF thing. While I'm excited, I'm scared. I've been plowing through the internet trying to get as much information as I can on what I'm going to have to do. I don't know if it's a good thing or not, but I keep hoping if I learn enough, maybe the fear will subside. No luck yet, but it does help tremendously knowing that there are other women out there going through this.
With that being said, does anyone recommend a certain blog/support site? I would love to join one, just can't decide which one. Thanks!
Okay, I'll pour out what I learn tomorrow in ugly detail, PROMISE! =)
Wish me luck!!!

2 Weeks 2 lift off
So here's a quick rundown.....my husband and I have been trying just about a year now and time is flying, so after much discussion and reflection, we are going straight to IVF. I know this is the most invasive, but when you look at the big picture, the odds are best, not just for success, but the best control over multiples. No high order multiples for me, thank you. We are also blessed with insurance coverage for the procedure and want to take advantage of that benefit while it's still available.
I have been googling and searching and searching and googling like crazy. Trying to find out what on earth this experience will really be like. I don't know about you, but so many of the blogs or site or youtube videos are so old! I want to know someone who's doing this NOW. And I have found reading all the other stories very incouraging. I will do my best to be entertaining and fun in this bound to be stressful journey.
I am 2 weeks away from starting the Lupron shots, so stay tuned..........
Oh yeah, we have our big injection class on Wednesday and I get all my meds that day too, so I'll be posting about all the loot that evening.......Yikes! I'm getting nervous/excited!!
